Altai Cashmere

Altai cashmere is a subsidiary of the Altai Holding LLC, which is one of the most successful business groups in Mongolia. The Altai Cashmere Company was established in 1991 as a supplier of raw and dehaired cashmere for the world market.

The new processing factory was built in 1995 and a high quality washing and dehairing equipment made in Great Britain was installed and the cashmere production has started. Since then we have been successfully expanding our business activities, producing high quality dehaired cashmere fibers and natural, soft and luxurious cashmere garments.

Almost hundred percent of our dehaired cashmere and eighty percent of our knitted products and garments are exported to the England, Italy, Japan, Germany, France, South Korea and the United States.

Production of a high-cost cashmere product has need of a tight condition and a certain technological standard that requires constant staff development and skill building.

Our products

Dehaired cashmere

Dehaired cashmere is the main raw material in the production of cashmere products. Finest quality cashmere should have middle micron fiber 14,5-16,5 length 38-42 mm and coarse haircontent no longer than 0.15-0.25 percent.

Knitted products

We produce a wide variety of knitwear garments, accessories with exquisite designs, unique styles and colors. Our products are becoming familiar to our customers, in 2006 we were awarded "2006 Best traditional costume style" from well known in Mongolia "Goyol" design competition.

Although the company products are not very long on the world market, our fine knitwear garments have always been received with appreciation by customers from England, Japan, Italy, Germany, France and South Korea.

We produce a wide variety of knitwear garments, accessories with exquisite designs, unique styles and colors.

Procurement of raw materials and sorting stage

Altai Cashmere Company purchases raw materials that meet the highest quality standard requirements. We collect raw materials throughout the country through our own representatives located in the provinces and at open auctions. We accumulate sufficient raw materials during the season in order to keep full production throughout the year.

Raw materials are graded by their length, micron/ thickness/ color, coarse hair content, dandruff and other specifications according to technological requirements. The cashmere is sorted into four main colors: white, light gray, gray and brown.

Washing stage

This process removes dirt, grease and any vegetable matter gathered in the collection process using a special detergent, which meets the technical requirements of cashmere washing and prepares cashmere for the next stage. The washing equipment has the capacity to wash 500 tons of wool and cashmere per year. The detergent solution is human and environmentally friendly. Dehairing stage.

This process separates the natural dirt and coarse hair from the washed cashmere and is processed at high temperature and high humidity levels to ensure best results. We have 18 dehairing machines that were made in England and they produce 200 tons of dehaired cashmere per year.

The line has the advantage of keeping the natural features of fiber.

Knitting factory

The factory uses its own processed and dehaired cashmere and cooperates with a high quality spinner to process the yarns for manufacturing. In order to be more productive and tackle all knitting orders quickly, we acquired CMS 330 TC4 and CMS 340 TC L Stoll knitting machines that revolutionized the knitting industry. We have the capacity to produce 200 000 knitted products per year.

The final line of production is a stage where details of the garment is knitted and sewed, according to the design developed by our highly skilled professiona designers; the finished product has undergone the quality control and shipped to the customer.

Environment protection

Altai Cashmere Co., Ltd emphasizes operating with minimal negative effect to the environment. Therefore we have been operating in accordance with Mongolian Laws and regulations of "Environment Protection Law" and "Law on evaluating the situation to affect environment".

Since 1998 we have invited TS' CEKO Company to conduct an environmenta evaluation at our factory. Based on this evaluation, we develop our environmental control evaluation programs and budget to implement these programs.

We would like to create our cashmere garments in consideration of the environment and with a focus on responsibility and health.
